The owner/designer of this home desired architectural details to be aged to perfection.
Many faux finishing techniques were utilized here to develop a variety of aged and distressed patinas. Nearly all surfaces of cabinetry, interior panel doors, entry mahogany doors, millwork, baroque corbels, stair balustrades, walls and ceilings received specialty finishes. Distress finish is the common theme for this new house masquerading as old. From it’s sandblasted great room beams reclaimed from a recent demolition in Chicago to the many multistage finishes of stains, glazes, abrasives, pigmented and clear coats prove this to be a very special project.
We enjoy challenges such as this one. They require a lot of persistent attention, but the finished product is a great reward.
